Being Frank

Frank Moran
TRT 80 minutes

Actor, impersonator, and song-n-dance man, Frank Moran, celebrates the characters of the Marx brothers as he dexterously weaves their lives into his own. A real "New York Story", Moran spins a rollicking tale of his younger self and all his heroes, including his working-class family, the Broadway greats, and, of course, Groucho Marx. Riddled with stories both comic and tragic, Moran dances, literally, between the comic and the tragic, as he discovers how powerful wearing all these different masks has really become.

About the Artist

Frank was born in Brooklyn, NY and has worked most of his life in Show Business. He started young by entertaining his family with celebrity impressions and creating sketches with his brothers to eventually transitioning into being a professional actor. On stage you may have seen him as Groucho in “The Coconuts” at the American Place Theatre, in NYC, or at regional theaters throughout the country. On TV he’s appeared in soap operas like, All My Children and One Life to live and Law & Order, opposite Vincent D’Onofrio. In film you can see him in films like “The Guru” with Marisa Tomei and as a Disney Dad, opposite Kathy Najimy, in Step Up 3D, directed by Jon M. Chu. As a perpetual student of the art, Frank studied for years with the great Wynn Handman (who taught Michael Douglas, Richard Gere and Robert De Niro) and he’s currently studying with Ann Noble, where he’s ceaselessly inspired by discovering more about himself and his craft.
